Wooden guitar-zither (1) crafted with a dark reddish-brown finish soundboard and a black lower rail embellished with gold decorative scrollwork. The instrument incorporates a circular sound hole with a decorative floral rosette, a lithographed sheet music and chord chart strip displaying numbered chord and melody guides across the lower body, metal strings, and metal tuning pins set along the top and angled right edges. Text and markings include "INDICATES TWO OCTAVES BELOW", "PATENTED MAY 29, 1894.", "No. 2 1/2", and a circular black label bordered with gold scrollwork flourishes reading "No. 3 1/2 MADE IN U. S. A."
